Prior to joining PLMR as a Senior Consultant in July 2012 Steven held a range of high profile roles in charities, campaigning organisations and with the Liberal Democrats. He was previously Chief Executive of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, the crime prevention charity and was Executive Director of Groundwork Southwark, a local environmental regeneration charity.
An experienced political campaigner, Steven led teams organising general election campaign tours for Liberal Democrat party leaders Charles Kennedy and Nick Clegg. He has also managed media events for Vince Cable, Paddy Ashdown, Shirley Williams and Ming Campbell. He has trained politicians in countries such as Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan Serbia, Macedonia Uganda and the Lebanon for the Westminster Foundation for Democracy. Steven was a local councillor in the London Borough of Southwark for eight years and has also been a parliamentary candidate and a successful general election agent for the party.
After graduating with an MA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University Steven was part of the small team that launched the Discovery Channel in the UK in 1989 where he spent nine years editing, producing and directing documentaries. He has written for the Guardian, Psychologies Magazine and the Times Educational Supplement and has had a selection of books published on the lighter sides of politics and rugby.
