As Board Director and Head of Health and Social Care, Nathan provides media, reputation management, and public affairs advice to a range of organisations, to organisations in a range of sectors – including energy, third and Brexit related matters – as well as leading PLMR’s work in the health & social care sector.

In 2017, Nathan was recognised as one of the best young communications professionals working in the industry by Corp Comms magazine, where he also won the Best Issue Management Award for his work with a supported living care provider. In November 2018, the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) named Nathan as the Young Communicator of the Year, and PLMR’s Health and Social Care Team as one of the best specialist consultancies in the country.

A reputation management specialist, Nathan has supported organisations across sectors to respond to the most challenging investigative media outlets, including undercover exposes led by BBC’s Panorama programme, Channel 4 Dispatches, Sunday Times and the Mail on Sunday. On a weekly basis he supports clients to minimise the reputational impact of Court (Coroner’s and Crown) and Regulator judgements. In 2017 he won the Corp Comms award for ‘Best Issues Management’ for his work supporting an independent care provider.

In public affairs, Nathan has led political engagement campaigns for organisations including, HC-One (the UK’s largest residential care provider), Push Doctor (an innovative online primary care provider), and Care England (the representative body for independent social care providers). He has successfully reformed NHS recruitment guidelines, revised CQC regulation, generated Ministerial backing for client’s projects, and led a campaign which secured nearly £2 billion a year of extra revenue to fund care services. In 2016, that campaign won the ‘Best In-house Consultancy Collaboration’ category at the Public Affairs Awards.

In media relations, Nathan has extensive experience delivering high profile national print and broadcast campaigns, including securing two national newspaper front pages for a charity client. He has exceptional relationships with health and social care specialist journalists, works regularly with national media journalists on a range of topics, and writes in a personal capacity for Healthcare Business, HealthInvestor UK and Carehome.co.uk.

Prior to joining PLMR, Nathan worked in the Parliamentary office of a then Health Select Committee member, gaining invaluable experience across health, environment and energy policy areas. Before that, he was the Campaign Manager for the ‘Yes to Fairer Votes’ campaign in Cornwall where he was regularly interviewed on regional media including, the BBC South West Politics Show, BBC Radio Cornwall, BBC Spotlight and all of the local newspapers and commercial radio stations in the county.

Outside work, Nathan is a passionate Cornishman, Formula 1 fan, and e-sports enthusiast. He also sits on the steer group of a project designed to tackle loneliness and inactivity amongst older people.
