Leading communications agency PLMR has appointed Mo Hussein, most recently Special Adviser to Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP when she was both Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, as Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns.

Mo will provide senior counsel to PLMR clients across sectors as well as helping drive PLMR growth.

Mo has joined PLMR after a decade at the highest levels of Government working in media, political strategy and crisis management. Prior to his role as a Special Adviser, Mo spent four years in the press team at 10 Downing Street, where he was Chief Press Officer for Business and the Economy. Mo has also worked at the Ministry of Defence, where he spent 3 months in Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan, working as a Media Adviser to British Forces.

Mo’s appointment will further strengthen PLMR’s senior team and help to boost its public affairs, reputation management and crisis communications offering, building on the appointment of former MP and Select Committee Chair Neil Carmichael last year. PLMR’s growing energy practice, which includes Centrica in its portfolio, will also be bolstered by Mo’s experience in one of the most senior roles at the then Department for Energy and Climate Change.

PLMR is an integrated communications agency, with specialisms in healthcare, education, built environment and planning, tech, energy and transport.   PLMR achieved 34% growth in revenue in the last calendar year, reaching £4.2million off the back of two successful acquisitions making it one of the UK’s fastest growing independent agencies. Revenues in excess of £5million are anticipated for the financial year 2018/ 2019.

PLMR has offices in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Cambridge and founded the Global Communications Network – an informal worldwide network of like-minded agencies.

PLMR CEO Kevin Craig said:

“Mo Hussein joining PLMR is a superb appointment for the agency. Mo brings years of experience at the highest level of Government and the Conservative Party. His skills in media, politics, digital and crisis are an exciting addition to PLMR for our existing and future clients.   We are proud and excited to have someone of Mo’s calibre and experience opt to join the great PLMR team.”

Speaking about the appointment Mo Hussein said

“Future-facing, innovative and growing, PLMR is bursting with the creativity, ideas and knowhow organisations and individuals can rely on to anticipate, manage and mitigate communications challenges in today’s 24-hour digital world and navigate tomorrow. With its proven, celebrated track record of delivering tangible, real-world results for its clients, I’m delighted to be joining the PLMR team.”
