PLMR WINS BIG AT THE 2015 PUBLIC AFFAIRS AWARDS

PLMR win Best In-House Consultancy Collaboration at the Public Affairs Awards 2016

Last night was a great night at the 2015 Public Affairs Awards where PLMR won the category for best in-house/agency collaboration for our work in advance of the 2014 Autumn Statement on Air Passenger Duty with A Fair Tax on Flying – a coalition of the air travel industry chaired by the four main industry trade bodies, the Airport Operator’s Association (AOA),  ABTA –  The Travel Association,  the British Air Transport Association (BATA)  and the Board of Airline Representatives in the UK (BAR UK).  Our campaign exceeded its aim of scrapping APD for under 12s in the 2015 Budget:  In his 2014 Autumn Statement, Chancellor George Osborne announced not only that he would scrap APD for children under 12 from May 2015,  six months in advance of the AFTOF target date,  but that this would be extended to children aged 12-16 from 2016,  an additional tax cut of £60m per year.  Early reports from travel companies show that some have seen a staggering 24% increase in long-haul flight bookings among families with children under 12 since the APD cut came into effect, and a third of people with families believe that abolition of child APD has made flying more affordable.

In addition to this win PLMR Director Ros Trinick was identified as one of the best consultants in Britain today with her shortlisting as Consultant of the Year.  To top off all this success, PLMR’s planning and development expertise was shortlisted in the Best Planning Campaign in Britain for our work with Earthworm where we proudly delivered planning consent for a 5MW solar farm on a rural site in Oxfordshire against objections and Officers’ recommendation for refusal.

Since PLMR was founded in 2006 – it has received a host of national and international awards and accreditations. Cannes Lions, PR Week, Public Affairs News, Public Affairs, Corp Comms, PRCA, CIPR   – PLMR has won or been a finalist at them all.  PLMR is the company that clients increasingly turn to get the job done and we are over the moon at last night’s successes.

We are hugely proud of our consulting team and the clients we are honoured to work with and for.  Onwards to 2016 !!
