CARE UK: SECURING PLANNING PERMISSION FOR A CARE HOME
PLMR undertook extensive consultation with local residents, ensuring that any concerns about the perceived impact on a listed building were addressed.
When Care UK wanted to build a new care home on a site adjoining a Grade II listed building in the heart of a much-loved local park in Cheadle, PLMR devised a comprehensive community consultation programme to highlight the benefits of the proposed care home to the local community.
A tailored community consultation programme was developed in collaboration with Care UK to target potential support groups in parallel with a broader-based consultation scheme.
PLMR undertook extensive consultation with local residents and the wider community, ensuring that any concerns about the perceived impact on the listed building and the wider parkland were addressed. Through clear and engaging communications we generated support from local groups including Age UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Councillors voted unanimously to grant permission for the proposals, despite a local protest campaign.
“The PLMR team are a pleasure to work with, but most importantly they consistently deliver results. They understand planning and they know how to communicate effectively with our key audiences.” – Richard Smith, Head of Care home Development, Care UK Residential Care
