Week Ahead in Holyrood – 28.05.2018

On Tuesday there will be a Stage One debate on the Planning (Scotland) Bill. This will be immediately followed by the Bill’s Financial Resolution debate. The Planning (Scotland) Bill seeks to overhaul they way in which planning departments and regulations currently operate to make this system fairer and sustainable.
On Wednesday there will be a Stage Three Proceedings on the Islands (Scotland) Bill. This Bill seeks to make provision for a national islands plan; to impose duties in relation to island communities on certain public authorities; to make provision about the electoral representation of island communities; and to establish a licensing scheme in respect of marine development adjacent to island
On Thursday, General Questions will be followed by First Minister’s Questions. Portfolio Questions will follow with focus on Rural Economy and Connectivity, followed by Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform. Finally, there will also be Stage Three Proceedings on the Housing (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill. This Bill seeks to amend the law on the regulation of social landlords and to reduce the influence of local authorities over registered social landlords.
