The Week Ahead in Holyrood – 24/04/17

On Tuesday there will be Scottish Government debate on Child Tax Credit Cuts. Next, there will be a Stage One Debate on the Air Departure Tax (Scotland) Bill, immediately followed by the Financial Resolution on the Air Departure Tax (Scotland) Bill. The Air Departure Tax (Scotland) Bill will replace the UK Government’s Air Passenger Duty with a Scottish tax at a reduced rate.
There will also be a Legislative Consent Motion on the UK Criminal Finances Bill, which amends the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Finally, Members’ Business will be sponsored by Scottish Conservative MSP Maurice Golden, and will focus on WWF Earth Hour 2017.
On Wednesday, Portfolio Questions will focus on Justice and the Law Officers and, Culture, Tourism and External Affairs. This will be followed by a Scottish Greens Debate on Carers and Social Care. Finally, SNP MSP George Adam will lead a debate on MS Awareness Week.
Thursday’s General Questions will be followed by First Minister’s Questions. Labour MSP Neil Findlay will then lead Members’ Business by debating Edinburgh Airport’s apparently Flawed Airport Consultation. At 2.30pm there will be a Ministerial Statement on Social Security Agency, followed by a Stage One debate on the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Bill. This will be immediately followed by the Financial Resolution on the Limitation (Childhood Abuse) (Scotland) Bill. The bill will remove the limitation period for actions of damages in respect of personal injuries resulting from childhood abuse.
