The Week Ahead in Holyrood – 23rd January

On Tuesday there will be a Ministerial Statement on the Scottish Government’s Draft Scottish Energy Strategy, before a Scottish Government Debate on Developing Forestry in Scotland. This will be followed by Members’ Business, with Donald Cameron drawing attention to World Cancer Day and the opportunity to tackle obesity – one of the leading causes of preventable cancer in Scotland.
On Wednesday Portfolio Questions focus on Health and Sport, followed by a Scottish Labour debate on Public Services. Members’ Business will be sponsored by Emma Harper who leads the Burns Day celebrations with a debate on Celebrating Burns and the Scots Language.
Thursday’s General Questions will be followed by First Minister’s Questions. Jackson Carlaw will then lead Members’ Business by marking Holocaust Memorial Day. At 2.30pm there will be a Ministerial Statement on Hate Crime. This will be followed by a Scottish Government debate on Improving Scotland’s Planning: Improving Scotland’s Places. Finally, there will be a Legislative Consent Motion on UK Children and Social Work Bill – UK Legislation.
