Ollie is a Director with PLMR, specialising in strategy, public affairs, proactive media planning, reputation promotion and management, and crisis communications.
He works with a range of clients across sectors to raise their profile and ensure they achieve their objectives, and has a track record of delivering positive national and local broadcast and print coverage by understanding campaign requirements and by developing bespoke, clearly-messaged and carefully targeted PR plans.
Ollie joined PLMR from the Department for Education, where he was chief press officer, leading on all schools issues and gaining positive coverage across the media for the Government’s education reforms. He also organised speeches, events, school visits and press conferences, and prepared and briefed Secretaries of State and Ministers ahead of media interviews and Select Committee hearings. During his time at the DfE, he was seconded to the Prime Minister’s press office team and won a place on the Government Communication Service’s inaugural talent management programme.
Before joining the DfE, Ollie worked in the communications team at the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for England, where he led a number of projects to tight budgets, and oversaw the first Takeover Day, which involved more than 10,000 children and young people working with 400 organisations, including signing up Manchester United and BSkyB.
Ollie started his career as a journalist, working as a news editor and reporter for a number of award-winning titles, and has an extensive contacts book built up across his time working in the media. He graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a BA (Hons) in social studies.
