Mike Ramsden brings 18 years experience of broadcast journalism to PLMR. He was the presenter of BBC London News on BBC1 for ten years, reaching audiences of up to 1.5 million people with live broadcasts from the studios of New Broadcasting House in central London. He’s reported on the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games, the 7/7 attacks and their aftermath, and filmed and edited a series of reports on a London charity helping the rural poor in Kenya.
Politics has featured heavily in Mike’s career, following the stories that made up a dozen local elections, six general elections and two London Mayoral elections, as well as presenting the London part of The Politics Show on Sundays on BBC1. He’s worked in newsrooms at the BBC News Channel, at Newsbeat on BBC Radio 1, and in BBC local radio in the English midlands.
He’s a skilled live interviewer, who can help prepare our clients for the toughest broadcast interviews. His experience as a presenter and reporter mean he has a ‘gut feel’ for what news editors want, helping our clients get maximum positive coverage across all media channels.
In September of 2011, Mike moved into corporate communications at RBS Insurance, Britain’s biggest general insurer, applying his skills to a period of immense change for the organization. He presented and produced regular video interviews with the CEO and CFO, and helped create the messaging that engaged 15,000 employees with the new identity and culture of Direct Line Group, the company that was created as the insurance business separated from RBS group.
