PLMR’s Week Ahead in Westminster: 11th July

In the podcast that never looks back, PLMR discusses David Cameron's mooted Cabinet re-shuffle

National newspapers have been reporting that David Cameron intends to re-shuffle his deck next week ahead of the general election in 2015.

Rob Comba is joined by Conservative activist, Becky Moles and political consultant at Dods, Joel Blackwell as they assess who will be staying in Cameron’s Cabinet and who’s likely to be on their way out.

So, who’s in and who’s out?

Joel thinks Ken Clarke and Eric Pickles will be moved on but Michael Gove and David Jones are staying put.

Will we see more women in the Cabinet?

Becky says we probably will. We can expect to see Esther McVey and perhaps Priti Patel promoted.

Which women could go?

The Defence Minister, Anna Soubry is almost a certainty to fall victim to Cameron’s re-shuffle.

Cameron’s been criticised in the past for having a ‘women problem’, is it an issue that there aren’t enough top-raking Tory women?

Becky says it is and Cameron can’t start addressing it by promoting a few women as part of a re-shuffle.
